The agency given emphasis on promotion of education for bringing back the dropouts/never enrolled children in the age of goup of 5-14 years. To the main stream of education through awareness generation among the villagers, youth mass, SHGs, VECs and VDCs in the process of awareness promotion of Girls child education and adult education prioritized. During the year 5 nos. of mass meeting and 2 nos. of rally on literacy promotion conducted in Tumudibandha Gram Panchayat. However the impact of the programme found affective and the percentage of education in the village gradually increasing. The illiterate parents become aware about value of education and sending their children to the existing formal/non-formal education centers in the locality.

The people in tribal pockets of Kandhamal District are not so aware about preventive & curative measures on health care. People having a strong superstitious belief like animal/bird sacrifice before the god/Goddess to escape from several diseases. Quack and witchery treatment is still continuing in the rural areas. Living with unhygienic environment, non-taking of immunization doses, and ignorance on sanitation measures, lack of nutritious feeding creating serious disturbances in health sector of the rural inhabitants. To overcome the difficulties SANDHAN taken following initiations to create a sound environment among the target masses of Kandhamal District.

Most of the people in the district suffering from water infectious diseases like diarrhea, gestroentites, scabies, malaria, jaundice so on and so forth. Hence the agency organized series of mass meeting, rallies and campaigning among the villagers. In the meeting the participants were thoughts on use of safe drinking eater, use of house hold latrine, keep clean of the homestead surrounding, keep clean of existing natural eater resources. During these reporting year agency cleaned 5 Nos. of Chuan with bleaching application with villages of Gram Panchayat in co-operation with villagers and school students.

Touth are the key activities of every developmental process in the society. With out their involvement, co-operation and initiation nothing could be as curtained in the development sector. But it is a fact that due to lack of facilitating agencies the youths in the rural areas are still in the duly illumination. They are not so conscious about their role, responsibilities, rights, strategies to be taken for community development, available schemes and provisions at various G.O/N.G.O level etc. so, their sensitization is an important aspect in the present days. Observing the situation SANDHAN organized 3 nos. of youth’s leader found active in community development in their concerned areas. As a result:

• Exploitation on local products (Agril and MFP) has been controlled.
• Wages getting actual wage in right time.
• Child labor engagement in non- hazardous sectors found decreasing.
• Village forest found protected.
• Initiations taken on sustenance of community assets created by various department etc.
• Community peace, unity and integrity found strengthening in the locality.

Every year since the formation of our organization we have been conducting several health camp for the care of people who are in need. Our head quarter office is situated in one of the most Tribal area where of the most people are effected by various diseases such as Malaria, Diarrhea and Tuberculosis etc. So we conducted several awareness camps for various programmes and provided AIDS and advice to the people general for regular treatment in association with other health workers of the government and several health care organizations we conduct number of the health camps and gave advice and distributed medicine to people who are in need. We also actively participated in the Pols Polio immunization programme and assisted the local health care staff for the women and other weaker sections of the society about different bearing issue like Dowry system, Drug deduction, HIV/AIDS awareness generation cam was organized by the organization. “Youths are builder of the Nation” to realize the above point the organization conduct various youth development activities such as camps, cultural shows etc, during the year.

About 90% of the people in Kandhamal District are living in rural areas, out of them 90% living below property line. The economic backwardness pulling them down each and very aspect. Economic empowerment indeed seems a weapon to uplift the downtrodden mass. Hence the agency introducing various vocational training as well as locality viable income generating activities among the poor mass, with a view of creating self employment opportunities out of the existing human as well natural resources. Artistic Cane & Bamboo craft, leaf plate 7 cup making, preparation of spices etc. are some of the activities being taken up by the agency since inception. Almost all the activities being done on group approach, as it seems effective than the individual approach. The said programmes done out of its own resources. Group saving as well as assisted by the donor agencies.

With in few decades, forest resources found decreasing very fast. One the on hand the people neither debarring from forest cutting, forest burning and on the other hand they don’t have planting a single tree. So that now a day the land surf dace of Kandhamala District seems barren in spite of dense forest. Now a day, the forest dwellers (so called Adivasis) are not getting a single pieces of size wood to build their thatch. The impact of the deforestation seriously impacting on ecological balance. Intolerable bur during summer, irregular and erratic rainfall, diminishing agricultural productivity are the instances of this district Kandhamal. Hence the organization conducted mass meeting on protection, promotion and replication of existing forest resources so also creation of new village forest. In the programmes the personal having adequate knowledge on this sector speech for plantation of both forest and fruit bearing plenty’s according to the suitability, in their farming and barren land, home stead and common lands, institution campuses, road sites. The people were also encouraged to introduce agro forestry in the areas. By our inspiration pod shifting cultivation has been reduced and 3 nos. of village forest has been protected.

During the year 3 nos. of mass meeting and 2 nos. farmer’s training conducted in 5 village under Tumudibandha Block. The experienced persons from Agriculture/Horticulture sector were invited as resource person to impart the programme and provide valuable suggestions to improve the agricultural productivity of the area through low cost rural technologies. In the programme the participants were also taught on low cost rural technologies of soil and water conservation, proper usage of land resources, dry land farming, off-season vegetable cultivation, use of improved seeds/seedlings, organic farming, vermia compost and its utility etc. the impact of the programme seems effective in the farming practice and increased productivity up to some extent.
